The STOP action group’s main objective is;
A) TO GET THE DEVELOPER’S CURRENT CLEARLY OVERDEVELOPED PLANS SUBMITTED, TOTALLY AND UNRESERVEDLY REJECTED at the next planning meeting on pure overdevelopment grounds, planning meeting date to be advise....expected December 2002. There are simply too many, too high, structures on the site situated too near Conservation area homes (in my case 17 METERS from the walls of my home) and inadequate parking (28 places) for the 6,000 students that the Institute caters for, to allow this sort of overdevelopment to be passed. The scheme as it stands takes NO account of the fact that the 4 STOREY classroom block of the Institute has been positioned 17 METERS FROM THE WALLS OF MY HOME and it should be rejected on THIS alone! Does ANYONE realise HOW close this really IS ?????!!!!!!!
I AM a sacrificial Lamb led to a £250,000 value-slaughter in the price of my home, because no one can visualise what the Institute Classroom block sited 17 meters from the walls of my home, will look like AFTER it is built. The developers are FULLY to blame for submitting this overdeveloped plan without any direct consultation with local affected Residents FIRST. It is not yet known what collusion existed between the Developers and Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust and the Hampstead Garden Suburb Residents Association but the fact is that Hampstead Garden Suburb Residents were NOT consulted at all. Further the way the plans were dropped in by the developer ONLY to bordering houses, with the OMMISSION that the Block near me was a CLASSROOM block, the way the official letters arrived a week after they were dated, from Barnet asking for neighbouring Residents official objections to be submitted by October 10th and the way those letters have NOT been circularised to all the local streets who WILL BE affected by an acute lack of parking due to the fact that there will ONLY be 28 parking spaces on site, makes one also come to the conclusion that someone is benefiting out of this scheme.
One thing is for sure it will NOT be me who as the scapegoat am the only house to be monstrously suffering due to the acute proximity of my house with its short rear garden. In fact the loss in value to my home of £250,000 and that of my 3 other close neighbours means we are the sacrificial Lambs led to the slaughter to the tune of about £750,000 !!!
The Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust and the Hampstead Garden Suburb Residents Association are EQUALLY to blame as;
a) They supported the move of the Institute to the new Neurological Hospital East Finchley site AND ......
a) They FAILED to consult the residents whom THEY REPRESENT, as we ( lowly 'cousins' on the 'other side' of the main road) discovered too late and not through them.
b) They FAILED AGAIN because they persist in NOT REJECTING the TOTAL scheme OUTRIGHT on the basis that it is ill-conceived, overdeveloped and affects a few Resident MEMBERS to a degree which is simply UNACCEPTABLE by ANY standards, and the committee cannot be bothered to go into the REAL detail of the affects on THEIR members (including me and my 3 meighbours) who are due to suffer to the tune of £750,000.
Please read on to see why..............
It appears passing the plans are 'an INEVITABILITY' .....and I quote from a valued source...there is nothing you can do about it !)
It then follows and becomes VITAL that the Barnet Planning Committee when it passes the Application in general;
1) ELIMINATES the 4 storey classroom block that would be sited 17 meters from the walls of my conservation area 2 storey home.
Without this action by the planning committee my home will......................
a) be grossly overlooked due to the severe proximity ( 17 meters from the WALLS of my home) of the 4 STOREY block AND angle of construction by the 40 plus classroom windows that will look onto my garden and into EVERY rear room in my house and some side rooms, including the bedrooms.
b) due to extreme proximity and open windows I will suffer noise as the classes (dancing, music, pottery machines, go on until the late night. In addition because I live in a Conservation area Planning will be automatically refused for double glazing because it does not conform to the surrounding area!
c) Again due to extreme proximity and the 4 STOREY imposing scale of the Institute building, next to my TWO storey building, I will suffer light deprivation. If there were trees between the Institute classroom 4 STOREY block and my house then there would be an even greater loss of light.
